How word-of-mouth marketing has changed its gameplan
Traditionally word-of-mouth marketing was reserved for real life aka the off-line space…which is still important, but over the last couple of years it started to include the on-line space. Influencers are the best example of this. They establish communities and nurture audience relationships on social media. From partnering with brands that align with them, to reviewing products; influencer audiences are receptive to the messages and recommendations because they are trusted and credible sources.

Instagram tests new, full-screen, scrollable display of posts and Reels
It’s no surprise that Instagram is testing full-screen displays on its main feed. With the success of short-form video formats, this move will make Instagram content look a lot more like TikTok and embracing the latest usage trends. Instagram has said in the past that was working towards aligning its content feed to Reels, because of its popularity.

Influencer-led podcasts are proving popular for advertisers
When we think influencer marketing our minds tend to go straight to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter in general. We forget that there are many other platforms. Podcasting keeps gaining momentum and we see the same trend in South Africa. The latest movement is influencer-led podcasts. Influencers have flocked to the audio platform over the last couple of years with great success. Just like they post ads on social, these influencers also endorse brands on their podcasts, often evangelizing for 60 seconds or longer about the companies they choose to work with. Brands have taken note of this; and so have podcast networks who want to secure big ad spend.
